Opportunity Summary
The Construction Safety Officer will be responsible for working collaboratively with site project teams and in partnership with our sub-trades to implement and monitor the site-specific safety plan, ensure compliance, report concerns, and implement solutions in accordance with Company’s safety program. The successful candidate will initially provide safety coverage on a variety of projects, before transitioning to a dedicated role on a project located in Abbotsford or Pitt Meadows. This role is employed through CLAC, and membership will be required once hired.   

Key Responsibilities
  • Actively monitor and influence work progress to ensure compliance with health and safety at the project site
  • Proven ability in building and maintaining strong relationships with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to work with stakeholders to find creative, and balanced solutions to problems
  • Document progress in daily progress reports
  • Provide site orientations to new workers/visitors to the site
  • Monitor compliance to safety procedures and policies
  • Educate workers on safety standards and best practices
  • Initiate and supports incident response, notification, and investigation activities
  • Conduct Toolbox meetings for site staff
  • Review all Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRA)
  • Act as required to immediately correct unsafe acts or conditions
  • Communicate safety requirements to all on site

Qualifications
  • Certified Construction Safety Officer (CSO) designation with a minimum of four+ years’ health and safety experience on a construction site.
  • Current Fall Protection, SiteReadyBC, Transport endorsement, and Occupational First Aid Level 2 certifications.
  • Proven ability in building and maintaining strong relationships with multiple stakeholders across various sites.
  • Proficient working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on finding creative and balanced solutions.

$35.82 - $38.58 per hour
